Bump Bird — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

The short version. You can play the whole game without giving us anything. A name is only asked for after a run has ended, and only so your score can appear on the leaderboard. You can ignore it and keep playing, and you can delete everything from inside the app at any time.

What we collect

A name you choose — only if you choose one. After a game ends you can enter a name to put your score on the public leaderboard. It does not have to be your real name, and we would rather it was not. If you never enter one, we never receive one.

Your scores. Once you have a name, the score from each run is sent to our server so the leaderboard can be worked out.

A group name — only if you join a group. You can put your scores on a private board shared with your family or friends. If you start or join one, we store the group's name and the fact that your player name is in it. A group is not an account: there is no sign-up, and joining one changes nothing else about the game. If you never join one, we never receive one.

An app identifier. The first time you open the app it generates a random identifier and stores it on your device. It does one thing: it lets us recognise that the person coming back with a given name is the same person who chose it, so nobody can take your name and your best score stays yours.

This is not the Android advertising ID. The app does not request it, and nothing here is used for advertising, tracking or profiling.

What we do not collect

The app asks for one Android permission: INTERNET, to reach the leaderboard.

Where it goes

Data travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our own servers, hosted on Amazon Web Services. AWS stores it on our behalf and does not use it for anything else.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or pass it to any third party for their own purposes.

What is public

If you choose a name, that name and your best score are shown on the leaderboard to everyone who plays. Nothing else about you is shown. Please do not use a name you would mind strangers seeing.

Names are checked automatically and offensive ones are refused.

Groups. A group's board shows the names and best scores of the people in that group. There are no invitations and no approval: the group's name is what lets somebody in, so anybody who knows or guesses it can join and see that board. Choose a group name you are happy for the people you tell to pass on, and remember your own name and best score stay on the public leaderboard as well. Group names are checked for offensive words in the same way player names are. You can leave a group at any time from the game over screen, which removes you from its board.

How long we keep it

Your name and scores are kept while the leaderboard exists, so that a returning player keeps their place. Your scores are also stored on your own device. A group is kept while it exists; leaving one takes you off its board, and the group itself stays for anyone else still in it.

Deleting your data

You can delete everything from inside the app. After a game ends, tap Delete my data on the game over screen. That removes your name and every score from the leaderboard, takes you out of any group, and clears this game's data from your phone. It cannot be undone, and you can carry on playing afterwards.

If you would rather we did it for you, email tiennguyensong@gmail.com with the name you play under and we will remove it within 30 days.

Uninstalling the app removes the copy on your phone, but on its own it does not remove your name from the leaderboard — use the delete option first.

Children

Bump Bird is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has entered a name, email us at the address above and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything significant will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.

Support

Bump Bird is a one-tap arcade game: tap to fly, let go and you drop, and try to get through the gaps. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to buy.

Common questions

How do I get my score onto the leaderboard?
Finish a run, then enter a name on the game-over screen. If the name is taken you will be offered the next one that is free. Coming back later with the same name on the same device keeps your best score.
How do I delete my name and scores?
From inside the app, on the game-over screen. It removes them from the leaderboard and from the device. See Deleting your data above for what happens to the record itself.
The game has no sound.
Check the sound toggle on the game-over screen, and the silent switch on the side of the device — the game deliberately respects it, so that switch silences it completely.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes. The game is entirely offline; only the leaderboard needs a connection, and your scores are kept on the device regardless.

Anything else

Email tiennguyensong@gmail.com and you will get a reply. Please say which device and which version of the app, if you can — it is usually the fastest route to an answer.
